Information
The Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) is the federal cyber security agency and the chief architect of secure digitisation in Germany.
With its function as the certification body for IT-Security in Germany, the BSI defines technical guidelines and certification schemes and works together with European and International standardization bodies to improve cyber security on a global level.
From the beginning of 2027, every Member State will be obliged to offer its citizens a certified European identity wallet. Most EUDI wallets will be smartphone apps. Current devices implement and offer biometrics as a fast and convenient unlock and authentication methods for various use cases. With the BSI TR-03166 a technical guideline based on the eIDAS Regulation is available for certification. The security of the EUDI Wallet and its ecosystem plays a crucial role. It is the backbone of trust in the digital identities of every EUDI Wallet and its transactions within the European Union, and together let's work on it.
