Dr. Sherif is the Head of Innovation & Technico-Business Development at du - reporting to Chief Commercial Officer. He is in charge of embracing emerging technology trends and furthering the collaboration with Technology and ICT functions. A dynamic and forward-thinking organization that aspires to transform enterprise and consumer propositions to make a positive impact on the new services. Dr. Sherif is a leading expert with more than 25 years of international experience across three continents in the monetization, strategy, design and development of next generation networks & Information Technologies. Dr. Sherif was also handled various roles with the Network and IT prior to his last role; including leading the Technology & IT strategy, Network Architecture and Mobile and Telco Planning. He was also appointed to be the Chairman of the 5G Steering Committee for the successful 5G Launch of du in May 2019. Dr. Sherif received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the City University of New York, USA. From 1997 to 2008, he was working in the Wireless Business Unit at Alcatel-Lucent (currently part of Nokia), in  New Jersey, USA. In 2008, he moved to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates to join du where he has held several positions including the head of the Mobile Network Planning. He has published several related papers in various Technical Journals as well as multiple international conferences. He has multiple contributions to the 3GPP and other Telecommunications standards. He also has more than 11 granted patents in the USA. In 2014, Dr. Sherif co-authored a book titled “Design, Deployment, and Performance of 4G-LTE Networks: A Practical Approach”.
