The Multimodal Data Center: Quantum + AI + HPC for Today

For decades, advances in computing have powered scientific discovery, industrial innovation, and technological progress. Today, that progress is constrained by two converging pressures: the growing complexity of the questions we want to answer, and the accelerating cost of computation in energy, hardware, and time. The boom in artificial intelligence is amplifying both, driving explosive growth in data volumes and compute demand and pushing classical infrastructures toward practical and sustainability limits.

Quantum computing emerges in this context as a new paradigm that extends the reach of classical approaches. It does not replace existing systems. It adds a new computational mode that can accelerate specific tasks, broaden the class of problems we can explore, and improve how we model complex natural and engineered systems, with direct implications for applied technologies.

Because no single approach is sufficient on its own, the future of data centers will be multimodal and hybrid. Qilimanjaro presents SpeQtrum within this vision. Qilimanjaro is Spain’s only full-stack quantum computing provider, building the technology end to end from hardware to software and system integration, and delivering access through a multimodal cloud as well as on-premise deployments. A flagship milestone is the integration of the first quantum computers within the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, one of the world’s leading supercomputing facilities, showing how quantum nodes can be embedded into national-scale infrastructure.

Attendees will leave with a clear framework for why quantum computing is needed, how it integrates with existing compute, why multimodality is the path forward, and how Spain is building strategic capability through one of its leading industrial players.
