AWEC (Animal Welfare Education Centre) is a start-up of the Autonomous University of Barcelona. The AWEC team comprises veterinary researchers with recognized expertise in animal welfare. AWEC offers educational activities, scientific and technical advice and innovation and research service, all aimed at improving animal welfare. One of our research is developing and validating biosensors in animals for early disease detection. As an example, CowTalkPro developed a sensor capable of detecting stress, pain and respiratory problems in cattle by analysing vocalizations through CNNs. The CowTalkPro project is a collaborative effort involving AWEC and a team of engineers from La Salle Barcelona.
