Speaker Bio

Since I finished my Neurology residency in 2005, I've been involved in the management of acute stroke patients, first as a member and then as clinical coordinator of the Vall d'Hebron Stroke Unit, which admits more than 1800 stroke patients each year. I’m a member of several stroke societies and vocal of the board of the Cerebrovascular Research group of the Spanish Society of Neurology. I’ve collaborated in the development of national and international guidelines on stroke management.

I also belong to the Stroke research group of the Vall d'Hebron Institut de Recerca (VHIR). We are leaders in the study of acute stroke networks organization, ischemic stroke reperfusion treatments and harmonization of the whole stroke management. Recently, I’ve been involved on the application of the Information and Communication Technologies on the pre- and intrahospital stroke network organization and the development of apps and intelligent tools to promote value-based health care evaluation and secondary prevention on stroke patients. I’m also interested in the development and translation into clinical practice of artificial intelligence for the diagnosis, acute management, and secondary prevention after stroke.
