Speaker Bio










Miguel-Angel Mayer is a Medical Doctor and specialist in Family and Community Medicine, Ph.D. in Biomedical Informatics and a Master’s Degree in Public Health. He is a Principal Investigator of Clinical Real-World Data & Real-World Evidence (RWD&RWE) at Hospital del Mar Barcelona (HMar). He worked many years as a clinician in Primary Care and in Internal Medicine and more than 20 years as a researcher.
Currently, he is the Scientific Coordinator at HMar in the international project European Health Data Evidence Network (EHDEN) of the EU and the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI), in the project Data Analysis and Real World Interrogation Network (DARWIN EU) of the European Medicines Agency, as well as in the TriNetX platform initiative. He is an associate professor in Biomedical Informatics and Biostatistics at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra.

 

He is also a member of the Scientific Committee of the ICT within the Catalan Health Department and member of the RWD&RWE in Regulatory Decision Making XIII WG of the Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences (CIOMS) of the World Health Organisation and UNESCO. He participated in, or is currently involved with, over 20 research projects funded by the European Union, the IMI/IHI and the Instituto de Salud Carlos III.
