Graduating in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Navarra in 1987, Toña later specialized in Sports Medicine and Physical Education at the University of Barcelona in 1991. In 1992, she obtained a Master's in Nutrition and Food Sciences from the University of Barcelona. Since 1992, she has been a professor in the Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Barcelona, concurrently acting as the Coordinator of the Master's in Nutrition and Physical Activity.
Actively engaged in teaching various courses and postgraduate programs related to Nutrition and Physical Activity across diverse life stages, her expertise also extends to providing nutritional consultation and guidance to athletes. Having served as a Nutritional Advisor for Futbol Club Barcelona from 2011 to 2023, she currently holds the position of Medical-Nutritional Advisor for the Spanish National Football Team.
