Phil Mottram is Executive Vice President and General Manager of Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company. Aruba is the global leader in wired, wireless, and SD-WAN solutions that use AI to automate and secure the network from edge to cloud.


As the leader of this global organization of over 7,500 employees, Phil is responsible for driving the strategic direction and execution of delivering Aruba solutions that help customers meet their connectivity, security, and financial requirements across campus, branch, data center, and remote worker environments, covering all aspects of wired, wireless LAN, and wide area networking (WAN).


Phil joined HPE in 2019 to run the Communication and Media Solutions (CMS) business, a leading provider of telecommunications software. Under Phil's leadership, the CMS business saw significant growth in orders and revenue, as well as improved operating margin. He also drove the introduction of key 5G product innovations. In 2020, Phil brought together HPE's telecommunications portfolio under the Communications Technology Group (CTG). As SVP and General Manager of CTG, Phil was responsible for a global team of 5,000, overseeing product management, R&D, sales, solution design, delivery, support, partnerships, and commercial operations.


Phil has more than 30 years of experience in the global technology sector, having lived and worked in Europe, USA, and Asia Pacific. Prior to joining HPE, Phil was the Chief Revenue Officer at communications infrastructure provider Zayo Group, where he was responsible for all customer-facing functions. Before Zayo, he was responsible for Vodafone's UK Enterprise Business Unit, where he led significant transformation programs, returning the fixed-line business back to revenue growth.


Phil holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Information Systems from the University of Lincoln, UK.


Phil occasionally participates in triathlon events for charity, including the World Ironman Championships in Kona, Hawaii, the Austrian Ironman, and Escape from Alcatraz in San Francisco.
