Session Description

During this showcase, GSMA and HAPS Alliance members from AALTO HAPS, Aerostar, Nokia and Stratospheric Platforms will share the Alliance’s work to open up new service capabilities that mobile network operators (MNOs) can use to fill a capability gap between terrestrial networks and satellites at 18 to 50 km above the Earth. Based in the stratosphere, High Altitude Platform Stations (HAPS) offer MNOs a cost-effective solution for everything from connecting the unconnected to monitoring wildfires to disaster detection and response - a market is expected to generate $4 billion in value by 2029 due to market demand, according to Northern Sky Research — and that’s a conservative estimate. With real-world examples of member achievements to date, you'll see how forward-thinking companies are already establishing a new generation of services with a host of operators using innovative, carbon-neutral platforms to improve the lives of millions. Specifically, you’ll hear how HAPS offers the potential to connect the 2.6 billion unconnected people, which according to the ITU is almost a third of humanity, all around the globe.

Pre-registration is encouraged. Attendees who have pre-registered and been accepted by HAPS Alliance will have preferred seating. All others first-come, first served as space permits.
