Check In To Get In explains attendee entry requirements – a simple, step-by-step guide that shows how we can all help keep each other safe at the event. From registering online and regular testing, to using our MWC21 App and digital badge for touch free navigation. Watch our video and learn what you need to do before you arrive.
It is mandatory for all MWC21 attendees to be fully pre-registered online - before arriving at the event. You’ll need to upload a photo or use your webcam. We will also need you to upload an image of your passport or EU national ID card before arrival – or you’ll be denied entry.
To validate your identity, choose BREEZ, our facial recognition enabled fast-track ID validation service which also gives you touchless entry with dedicated BREEZ lanes at the venue. Or choose our standard service to have your ID and photo validated by an agent. This process can take multiple days (dependent on volumes).
Remember, all attendees must supply a valid mobile number for the purpose of Covid-19 protocols, track and tracing and other essential contact purposes. Please ensure that any contact details that you provide, including mobile phone number and email address, belong to the person who is attending MWC21 Barcelona.
When you’ve fully completed registering, and your Photo & ID check is validated, you’ll receive an MWC Barcelona 2021 Attendance Confirmation email. This document will facilitate entry into Spain for attendees coming from any country, within or outside of the EU. For attendees requiring visas to enter the European Union/Schengen Area, this information must be provided when submitting your visa application. All attendees should make sure they carry the MWC Barcelona Attendance Confirmation while traveling into Spain.
For any attendees outside of the EU/Schengen Area, GSMA will share your personal information with the Spanish government in order to facilitate entry into Spain. It’s worth remembering that it could take up to three working days for the exchange of this information to occur.
Before flying, you’ll need a QR code for airport entry and departure. To obtain this code, complete a Health Control Form (FCS), found at https://www.spth.gob.es/
Also, before flying, attendees travelling to Spain should check if they need a valid, negative rapid test result. Tests have a maximum validity of 72 hours, giving you access into the event on the day of your test plus the 2 subsequent / following event days.
This year, all attendees and exhibitors must download the MWC21 App to obtain their Digital Badge before entry to the event. This replaces previous year’s printed badges and lanyards, allowing you to navigate the event touch-free. Your Digital Badge will activate and allow entrance to the event once registration, health self-declaration and testing is completed.
The MWC21 App also ensures attendees can make the most of their experience by easily organising their schedule, enjoy networking features and adhere to safety protocols.
Make sure you stay logged in, throughout the event, and that you always have sufficient charge to access the App at any time within the venue.
To enter MWC21, you must upload a valid, negative rapid PCR or Antigen test result to the MWC21 App or have been tested at our Onsite Test Centre. Vaccinated attendees are still required to provide a negative test result.
Go to your Digital Badge in the MWC21 Event App and either:
- Upload a valid negative PCR or Antigen (rapid test) result - this will be reviewed and approved by health professionals. In case of your test being declined, you will be notified via email. Please pre-book onsite (see next option). Note, review and approval can take up to 24 hours and may be declined if test can’t be authenticated)
- Book an onsite test at the venue (Hall 1, Fira Gran Via) prior to arrival - book convenient time slots (subject to availability) and receive results (pre-booked appointments are given priority).
Tests have a maximum validity of 72 hours, giving you access into the event on the day of your test plus the 2 subsequent / following event days.
Remember to bring the same ID that you registered with.
Onsite Test Centre opening hours:
Build up and dismantling from 08:00 - 20:00.
26 June - 02 July from 06:00 - 22:00.

Every time you enter the venue, you need to make sure your MWC21 Digital Badge is active. To do this, you will need to complete the health declaration on a daily basis. You’ll find this within the Digital Badge.
Once you’ve completed this, and as long as you still have a valid negative test result valid for a full day at the event, your digital badge will appear with a green bar, showing you are ready to access and enjoy MWC Barcelona!
Once activated, your Digital Badge is all about making it easier to attend the venue with added convenience and security, as there will be no physical badges this year. Your Digital Badge will help you make the most of the exhibition floor, joining conferences and getting inspiration from some of the most influential leaders from our industry.
Featuring touch-free entry and navigation throughout the event, your Digital Badge is just one of the many steps we’re taking to ensure that everyone is contributing to an environment that encourages safety for all.
If you see this symbol on your Digital Badge (image below), you are able to use the BREEZ lanes at the venue. If not, you will need to scan the QR code on your Digital Badge to gain entry. If you wish to enrol in BREEZ, please log-in to your registration account and select ‘Enrol in BREEZ’
