Sunil Bharti Mittal is the Founder and Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, India’s leading conglomerate with interests in Telecom, Space, Insurance, Real Estate, Hospitality & Food. He is the Chairman of Bharti Airtel, the flagship company of Bharti Enterprises, a global telecommunications company with operations in 17 countries across South Asia and Africa. The company ranks among the top three mobile operators in the world covering a population of over two billion.
Sunil is also the Executive Chairman of OneWeb which is launching a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites to provide high-speed, low-latency global broadband connectivity to regions not served or under-served by terrestrial networks including rural areas, forests, deserts as well as sectors such as shipping, aviation and defence by 2022.
Sunil is a recipient of the Padma Bhushan, one of India’s highest civilian honours. He has also been awarded Harvard Business School’s Alumni Achievement Honor and GSMA’s prestigious Chairman Award. He is a Commissioner with the Broadband Commission, a member of the Global Board of Advisors at the Council on Foreign Relations and on Harvard University’s Global Advisory Council. Bharti Group’s philanthropic arm, Bharti Foundation, has benefitted over 4.5 lakh underprivileged children in rural India.
