Mark Atkinson now heads the Radio Access Networks PLM unit within Nokia Mobile Networks Business Group.



Mark’s team is responsible for System Product Management, Global Sales Development and Product Marketing. Mark also carries the Business Management (P&L) responsibility for Nokia’s Radio Access Networks portfolio, including hardware, software and services.



The PLM Unit has the ultimate goal of establishing a market leading wireless portfolio (2G/3G/4G/5G) and scaling Nokia’s business to every corner of the World by working closely with customers to deliver “valuable solutions” at competitive costs (including Classical 3GPP, vRAN and oRAN).



Mark joined Siemens Mobile Networks (today Nokia Networks) as a GSM Sales Engineer in 1997. Prior to his current role, Mark served Nokia for 2 years as Senior Vice President of 5G & Small Cells and for 4 years as Vice President of Small Cells respectively. In both roles, he successfully developed the solution portfolios from an early incubation phase into mainstream businesses for the corporation.



In the past, Mark has also served Siemens, Nokia Siemens Networks and Nokia in various senior sales, business development and product management roles, and in diverse geographic locations including Germany, South East Asia, South Africa and China.



His other major experience outside of telecommunications was gained from 2001 to 2004 in the automotive infotainment industry, where he served in a senior key account management role for Harman International covering tier-1 automotive customers in Europe.



Mark was born in England and moved to Munich, Germany during his University studies in 1995. Mark was based in China (Beijing / Shanghai) from early 2007 until he moved to Chicago in summer 2015. He relocated back to Munich in June 2020.
