Session Description
When disaster strikes, mobile phones are more than communication tools; they become lifelines. Mobile disaster alerts via SMS, IVR, or Cell Broadcast deliver vital information and instructions to help people protect themselves, their property, and their livelihoods.
This session explores how mobile technology has transformed disaster resilience worldwide. Hear from operators deploying cutting-edge nationwide alert systems, governments navigating regulation and system financing, and innovators improving alert speed and accuracy. The session will also share progress under the UN’s Early Warnings for All Initiative. With many mobile alert systems now mandated by law, including across the EU, this conversation offers practical lessons for building resilient, inclusive systems.
