Why do you have a photo and ID check?
Attendees are required to have an identity check before arriving at the venue. At previous events this would have been done at badge collection however now that registration / access is digital we have also moved this check online.

How does the BREEZ photo & ID check work?
We will take the image from your passport and use biometric tokens to match this against a photo that we will take of you during the registration process. For further information on our use of facial recognition technology, click here

How long will it take for my photo & ID check to be completed?
If you use the automatic option with our facial recognition tool (BREEZ), your ID check will be instant. If you choose the manual option, this will be processed by our contact centre but may take a number of days dependent on volumes.

What do I need to do to submit my ID?
You will be requested during your registration to scan your passport or EU National ID card. Online instructions will guide you through this process.

What forms of ID can I use to register?
Only valid passports or EU national ID cards are accepted to complete your registration.

Will I still be allowed entry into MWC if I do not provide my ID information?
Attendees who do not provide their identification will not be able to complete their registration, access their Digital Access Pass or enter MWC.

How can my invited attendees submit their Passport / EU National ID card data?
Your attendees will receive instructions via email on how to access their account and submit this information. When they first log in, they will be asked to add in some further personal information and then will be taken through the ID and photo submission process.

Why are you collecting attendee ID?
We are committed to ensuring the safety of MWC attendees, both at the venue (Fira Gran Via) and offsite as they visit the city of Barcelona. As part of our overall venue and citywide security plan, we work with the Mossos d´Esquadra to identify and address possible security threats. Collecting attendee identification is one means to enhance our overall security plan and improve attendee security.

Is ID collection something new?
No, ID collection was introduced at MWC16 to ensure the safety of MWC attendees.

How are you collecting ID information?
ID information is collected from the scanned image that you have uploaded into your registration account. The data is extracted from the MRZ code on your passport or EU National ID card. This data is encrypted and securely transferred to a server and will only be retained for the period prior to, during and shortly after the event.
All attendees are required to provide this information prior to arrival at the venue.

How can you ensure the security of my personal data?
We utilise industry-recognised encryption within the systems that collect personal data. Additionally, the GSMA and Fira have commissioned a third-party penetration test and systems audit to ensure the security of personal information.
