Oscar Garcia Pañella

Speaker Bio

Dr. Òscar García Pañella holds a PhD in Electronic Engineering (La Salle–URL) and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Entertainment Technology at Carnegie Mellon University. He has undertaken several international research stays (IMSC at USC, USA, 1998; VIS Lab at UCI, USA, 2005; ETC at CMU, USA, 2009).

Òscar directs the Faculty of Videogames, Cybersecurity, and Music Production at the University of Barcelona (ENTI), the first Master’s programme in “Gamification & Transmedia Storytelling” (IEBS), as well as the Serious Games Lab initiative. He actively collaborates with other institutions such as EUNEIZ, UPF, Blanquerna, ERAM (UdG), among others. He is an active member of the European research community and is currently involved in the i-Game and VIC Project initiatives.

In addition, Òscar is a Senior Gamification Consultant at Cookie Box. He was included in Forbes’ Top 100 Creative People list and has been a TEDx speaker.
