The early days of 5G-Advanced marketing included a heavy focus on precision positioning as a fundamental value proposition of the technology. Today, as the industry looks forward to future 6G networks and services, integrated sensing and communications (ISAC) has emerged as one of the most promising use cases for beyond 5G technologies.

The commercial and industrial applications of high-precision sensing are many and many operators are building strategies to monetise them. The critical communications and defence applications, however, could be much more important and a real opportunity to put ISAC to good use as mobile networks evolve to support public safety priorities.
