Olli is a seasoned executive in wireless technology with over 20 years of experience driving business development, technology innovation, and advanced solutions across the communications industry. As Chief Technology Officer at the Telecom Infra Project (TIP), he leads the organization’s Project Groups and strategic technology initiatives, including OpenRAN, Open Optical Packet Transport, OpenLAN, TelcoAI, Data & AI Foundations, and Video QoE Management — accelerating industry-wide progress in next-generation wireless networks.
Prior to TIP, Olli held a series of senior leadership roles at Nokia, where he led global innovation programs at Nokia Bell Labs, served as CTO and Head of the Nokia Smart Lab in South Korea, and managed the company’s Silicon Valley Innovation Center. His teams have been at the forefront of pioneering wireless communication systems, AI-driven technologies, robotics, and advanced human–machine interface solutions for 5G and emerging 6G networks. He also led Nokia’s “Mission to the Moon” program, developing a 4G communications system designed for deployment on the lunar surface.
In addition, Olli spent three years building a startup focused on Open RAN Radio Units (O-RU), further deepening his expertise in open and disaggregated network architectures.
Olli holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Telecommunications and an MBA from the Helsinki University of Technology Executive School of Business.
