Jesse Moore is CEO and Co-Founder of M-KOPA, a UK-headquartered emerging market fintech that provides affordable financing for smartphones, digital financial services and e–motorcycles. Since its commercial launch in 2011, M-KOPA has reached over 9 million customers in emerging markets and disbursed over $2bn in credit.

Jesse moved to Nairobi in 2010 and has overseen the company’s growth from a startup to over 3,000 employees and 40,000 active sales agents. M-KOPA currently has operations in Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa.

The company has received numerous awards for innovation, impact and scale, including being named one of the 50 Smartest Companies in the World by the MIT Technology Review, as one of the Fastest Growing Companies in Africa by the Financial Times for four consecutive years, as one of the Top 50 Companies Changing the World by Fortune and one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential Companies in 2023 and 2024.

Originally from Toronto, Canada, Jesse holds an MBA from Oxford University (Skoll Scholar) and a BA from the University of North Carolina (Morehead Scholar). He was selected by the World Economic Forum as one of 100 Young Global Leaders in 2017 and by The Business Daily as one of Kenya’s Top 40 under 40 in 2016. He lives in Nairobi, Kenya, with his wife and two children.
