As Cluster Director of Engineering at IMDA, Koh Wee Sain works at the intersection of policy, engineering, and digital resilience. He contributes to Singapore's tech evolution by supporting the engineering strategies that help advance the nation's Smart Nation goals.
Throughout his career, Wee Sain has been involved in building infrastructure projects across Singapore. He contributed to establishing Singapore's connectivity foundations, including work on the National Broadband Network and the Wireless@SG ecosystem. During the COVID-19 pandemic, led the rapid deployment of critical communications infrastructure to support operations in migrant worker dormitories, ensuring digital resilience during a national crisis.
Today, Wee Sain is pivoting from traditional connectivity to the frontier of quantum networks. Beyond immediate security, he is driving the strategic planning for the future of quantum communications. He leads the National Quantum Safe Network Plus (NQSN+) initiative to secure critical infrastructure, while simultaneously laying the groundwork for a scalable quantum network ecosystem. Through collaboration with public and private partners, he works to help prepare Singapore's digital economy for future challenges—supporting both current data security needs and readiness for emerging quantum communications technologies.
