Laura holds a Master’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering and a PhD in Neuroscience, and for the past 15 years has worked at the intersection of technology and medicine. Driven by a passion for translating scientific discovery into real-world impact, her work focuses on turning cutting-edge research into meaningful technologies that improve patients’ lives and benefit society at large.
She began her career working as a neuroscience engineer at the Barcelona-based startup Starlab, then moved to Boston shortly after to join Neuroelectrics as a Technical Manager, a startup developing brain–computer interfaces and non-invasive brain stimulation technologies for the treatment of neurological and psychiatric disorders. She later joined Genentech (part of Roche) in San Francisco, where she served as Neurotech Innovation Lead in the Neuroscience Innovation and Product Development team, identifying and advancing innovative solutions for the diagnosis and treatment of neuropsychiatric diseases, spanning AI-based approaches for physiological biomarker discovery and novel brain stimulation techniques to support motor function recovery.
Laura has recently joined AstraZeneca in Barcelona, where she co-leads the Emerging Technology Intelligence Team. In this role, she focuses on identifying and accelerating emerging technologies with the potential to transform the life sciences and pharmaceutical industries, including quantum computing, physical AI, agentic AI, etc.
