Speaker Bio

Vivek has >30 years of extensive experience across Telecommunications, Financial and FMCG industries. He has successfully led multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams across Asia and Europe.

Vivek is the Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Axiata Group Berhad. Prior to this role, he served as the Group Chief Financial Officer. Axiata Group is a prominent regional telecommunications company with a presence in 9 countries across South and Southeast Asia, serving 175 million customers. As Group CEO Vivek’s mandate is to transform Axiata from pure Telco to Telco/ Tech conglomerate by developing new tech businesses as well as creating superior returns from Telco opportunities.

He also serves as Chairman of ADA Data AI Solutions Sdn Bhd (formerly known as Axiata Digital & Analytics Sdn Bhd), Boost Holdings Sdn Bhd and SMART Axiata CO., Ltd. Additionally, he is a Board Member of CelcomDigi Berhad, Robi Axiata PLC and Dialog Axiata PLC as well as a Commissioner on the Board of PT XLSmart Telecom Sejahtera Tbk and the President Commissioner of PT Link Net Tbk.

Vivek joined Axiata after spending over 6 years with Telenor Group, holding several key leadership roles as Executive Vice President and Group Chief Marketing Officer, CEO Telenor India, CEO of Grameenphone Bangladesh, and EVP–Finance of Telenor India.

Vivek held key positions as Chief Operating Officer and CFO of Tata AIA Life Insurance India. Prior to that, he served Hutchison Essar South Limited as VP of Finance–South Circles, and Tupperware as Director of Finance–India Operations. Vivek began his career at Hindustan level Limited, Unilever subsidiary in India where his last position was Regional Commercial Manager.

Vivek holds a Bachelor of Commerce from University of Delhi and is a qualified Chartered Accountant of India.
