Speaker Bio
Catherine leads the ESG Development and Impact team at Telefónica. Her role centres on building a strong ethical and sustainable culture across the company, while embedding integrity-led principles throughout our products, services, and stakeholder communications. This spans areas such as digital wellbeing, responsible AI, data privacy, diversity, and digital inclusion.
Through this role, she works closely with employees, customers, NGOs, and other key stakeholders, with a particular focus on attracting ESG-oriented capital by understanding investor expectations, strengthening commitments, and raising awareness of Telefónica’s ESG credentials. Under her leadership, the team’s work has contributed to Telefónica’s recognition in leading global sustainability rankings, including being named the world’s second most sustainable company by TIME magazine
Previous to joining the sustainability team, Catherine worked in M&A, B2B and Corporate Strategy, where she managed the Group’s spectrum auctions. Telefonica also worked in Daimler Chrysler in Germany and Holland and with the World Bank in Washington DC. Catherine has a BA in European Business, a Diplom Betriebswirt (ESB Reutlingen FH) and a Masters in Finance from the Instituto de Empresa in Madrid. She speaks English, German and Spanish - all with an Irish accent!
