Speaker Bio
Dr. Bi is Chief Scientist and VP of Science and Technology Committee at China Telecom, with specialty in wireless communications. Previously, Dr. Bi worked at Bell Labs for 20+ years and was awarded the prestigious Bell Labs Fellow in 2002. Other awards included Bell Labs President’s Gold Awards in 2000 & 2002, the Bell Labs Innovation Team Award in 2003, and Asian American Engineer of the Year in 2005. He is also an IEEE Fellow.
Dr. Bi received his M.S. from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University. He holds 47 US patents, 63 European patents and 175 Chinese patents. After joining China Telecom, his 4G multiple antenna solution led to the first large-scale commercial deployments in the FDD system and won the GTB Innovation Award at London in 2014. In 2019, he was given “Outstanding Contribution Award for Innovation and Entrepreneurship from Oversea Scholars” by Beijing City. He was also awarded three national silver patent medals by the China National Intellectual Property Administration from 2022 to 2024. His current work forcuses on 6G, AI and low altitude economy.
