Alicia Asín is the co-founder and CEO of Libelium , a company that designs and develops IoT technology to enhance citizens ' quality of life, boost companies ' competitiveness , and cultivate a more transparent and data -driven society.


She holds a Master's degree in Systems Engineerind and Computer Science from the Polytechnic Center of the University of Zaragoza , having further supplemented her engineering expertise with business programs at ESADE and IESE.


Alicia frequently speaks at debate forums on technology, digital rights, and privacy. She has participated in conferences such as the Audit Summit , the Spanish Data Protection Agency , the IoT Solutions World Congress, and the Singularity Summit.


A technology enthusiast who also recognizes the challenges linked to technological advances , she collaborates with the World Economic Forum 's Connected World Council and the Hermes Institute Foundation to establish best practices and guidelines for the ethical ,safe, and inclusive use of connected technologies. She is additionally involved with the Gadea Ciencia Foundation and serves as a member of the delegated commission of Future : Fast Forward , which aims to position Spain as the European hub for electromobility.


As a computer engineer , she has dedicated her career to exploring how the internet of Things can transform our world through applications in smart cities , precision agriculture, industrial digitalization , and enviromental monitoring.


Alicia has received numerous awards for her business acumen and technological innovation. Notably , she was the first woman to receive the National Young Entrepreneurs Award, which the Spanish Confederation of Young Entrepreneurs (CEAJE) granted in 2014. In the past two years, she has been recognized by Marca España as a "Spanish Woman with Talent" participating in an international campaign that has showcased her image in several countries.


In 2016, she received the ADEA Award for best manager in Aragon, the national IT Award , and the CEPYME Award for international business. In 2017, she was honored with the Rey Jaime I Award , and in 2018 , she secured second place in the Women Innovators Awards granted by the European Commission. In 2019 , Forbes magazine selected her for the international ranking "Top 100 Most Creative People in Business". In 2023, she was awarded the Professional Colleges of Computer Engineering (CCII) recognized her with the National Award for Computer Engineering in the category of 'Entrepreneur , entrepreneurial person'.


She has published the book "Toma el control de tus datos" ("Take control of Your Data", Espasa, 2024).
