Shahbaz leads product strategy and standards at Sateliot as Vice President of Products & Standards, with responsibility for driving the development and commercialization of standardized NB-IoT connectivity over LEO satellites. With over 20 years of experience across the telecommunications and IoT industry, he has established a strong reputation in product management, market analysis, and solution design, consistently driving innovation and sustainable business growth. His role involves close collaboration with chipset, module, device partners, mobile network operators, and satellite stakeholders to enable interoperable and scalable non-terrestrial IoT solutions.
Shahbaz plays an active leadership role in global standardization and industry alignment initiatives. He serves as Chair of the Standards Working Group at the GSOA and is a Steering Committee Member of the GSMA NTN Community as well as the GSMA 5G IoT Strategy Group. In addition, he contributes to standards and certification forums including 3GPP, GCF, PTCRB, and regulatory bodies, advocating for the integration of non-terrestrial networks into mainstream mobile standards.
Prior to joining Sateliot, Shahbaz held senior leadership roles at Telenor, where he helped scale the IoT business and drove more than 200% revenue growth over two consecutive years through strong alignment of technology innovation and commercialization strategy. Earlier in his career, he held technology and network leadership roles at Nokia and Siemens, contributing to the evolution of core and transport network infrastructure.
