Session Description

From Commitment To Commercialization of Network API’s

GSMA launched the OGW initiative in 2023, to help mobile network operators to monetize their network via API’s based on the CAMARA Project and exposing them to developers/ Channel Partners in a standard format. Now, since we have a sizeable amount of APAC MNO’s as well as CP’s who have committed to this initiative it is time to move on towards the next phase, which is getting Commercially Live Case Studies. Based on a report by McKinsey, API’s are conservatively expected to contribute $8 - $10Bn with a potential upside of $30 - $40Bn to service providers.

Commercially Live Case Studies should start with the problem statement, which API was used, who provided the solution and finally the tangible outcome which is validated with an Enterprise/ Developer Customer Statement. In APAC we have seen the rise of Fraud & Scams happening in an exponential way, as such more countries and developers are moving away from SMS OTP due to security and suboptimal user experience. Number verification is a good start in becoming the replacement of OTP. This would be followed by other Anti-Fraud & Scam related Network API’s like SIM Swap, Device Location, e-KYC. Another promising application is in the area of network quality through Communications Quality Network API’s.

This roundtable has 2 sessions, with the first being exclusive to Mobile Operators, and the second where the Channel Partners will also join the discussion. The objectives of this roundtable are:

  • Align APAC operators on 2026 Open Gateway priorities based on real market demand
  • Pressure-test Anti-Fraud vs QoD as primary commercial drivers
  • Gather operator feedback on gaps, blockers, and enablement needs
  • Create subsequent structured time with channel partners to accelerate monetisation
