Session Description
As part of the GSMA’s focus on fraud mitigation, GSMA Foundry has brought together a wide range of industry experts to build an open framework for verifying callers cross-network. Open Verifiable Calling has reviewed and proposed all the necessary components to allow a calling party to unambiguously identify themselves to the person they are calling. This exclusive, invitation-only roundtable will bring together OVC project members, mobile network operator fraud and transparency leaders, regulators, and law enforcement to share the findings from Phase I of the Open Verifiable Calling initiative and demonstrate its role within the wider GSMA anti-fraud agenda.
Fraudulent calling continues to erode consumer confidence and costs billions annually. This session will present what the OVC project has discovered, demonstrating both the WHY of verifiability and the HOW of OVC's implementation to the wider GSMA membership. A critical finding is that verifiable calling must sit within the broader context of verifiable communications, touching every part of the telecoms network: call originators, transit providers and terminators. The principles established in OVC can be translated to messaging and other communication channels, forming part of a consistent approach to vetting and validation – enabling good actors to prove their credentials once across the ecosystem.
Participants will explore Phase I learnings, discuss the potential scope of Phase II implementation, and explore how to operationalise caller verification across networks. In summary, this session aims to accelerate industry-wide adoption of verifiable communications solutions and strengthen the mobile ecosystem's defences against fraudsters.
