Sarawak Pavilion Officially Launched at MWC26 Barcelona
Showcasing Digital Innovation and Investment Opportunities
Barcelona, Spain, 3 March 2026 – The Government of Sarawak has officially launched the Sarawak Pavilion at MWC26 Barcelona, signalling a new phase in the State’s industrial and digital transformation under its 13th Malaysia Plan (2026–2030).
Sarawak’s participation this year reflects a strategic positioning at a time when the global geography of digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence deployment and advanced manufacturing is being actively reshaped.
The Sarawak Pavilion at MWC26 Barcelona serves as a working platform for structured engagement with technology firms, energy providers, data infrastructure operators and institutional investors exploring Southeast Asia’s next wave of industrial expansion.
The Honourable Datuk Liwan Lagang Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Sarawak, officiated the launch, underscoring that Sarawak’s digitalisation agenda is now entering an operational phase.
“The global technology industry is entering a new stage where energy, digital infrastructure, and stability are as important as innovation. In Sarawak, we are working precisely on that foundation: ensuring competitive electrical capacity, reliable connectivity, and industrial environments prepared for large-scale projects. The Mobile World Congress is an opportunity to engage with companies and institutions seeking to diversify supply chains and develop infrastructures linked to the digital economy. We want to build long-term alliances based on trust, execution, and shared objectives”, said the Deputy Premier.
During the official launch, the State Government reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating technological innovation, expanding global partnerships and positioning Sarawak as a leading digital economy within the ASEAN region.
The pavilion served as a strategic platform to showcase Sarawak’s digital ecosystem, investment opportunities and progress in smart infrastructure, connectivity, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, semiconductors and other emerging technologies.
Participation was further strengthened by the exchange of five memoranda of understanding between Sarawak agencies and international technology partners, including Hewlett Packard (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, Huawei Technologies (Malaysia), ZTE (Malaysia) Corporation Sdn Bhd, Llamalitica, and Worldsensing. These collaborations are designed to foster knowledge transfer and accelerate technology adoption.
