From Research to Reality: Shaping the Path to 6G

At MWC Barcelona 2026, the GSMA 6G Community will host an invite-only executive roundtable bringing together leaders from industry, academia, and standards bodies to discuss progress toward future 6G systems.

As 6G moves from research into early definition and standardisation, collaboration across the ecosystem is critical. This roundtable will explore how academic research, standards development, and industry initiatives are converging, with a particular focus on 3GPP progress and practical implications for future networks.

The session will be structured in three parts, beginning with perspectives from academic institutions, followed by an update on standards and 3GPP developments, and concluding with a discussion on what the community has delivered to date, what comes next, and the tangible outcomes required to support the journey to 6G.

Designed as a peer-to-peer discussion, the roundtable will identify shared priorities, gaps, and actionable next steps, helping to shape the GSMA 6G Community’s future activities.
