The judges said – “Cloudification of the RAN is still in early stages, but the actual benefits in commercial deployments helped to separate this entry from the others.”
Huawei 5G Ready CloudAIR is the industry’s only solution for the dynamic sharing of air-interface resources. Huawei’s cloud philosophy solution redefines mobile networks and breaks air-interface constraints. The solution increases the utilization rates of air-interface resources by dynamically allocating resources to different RATs on-demand. The CloudAIR solution lets operators roll out new RATs quickly, while managing the phase-out of retired radio access technologies, to improve user experience without interruption. CloudAIR is a key step on the road to 5G and the mobile cloud: the solution helps operators build more flexible and efficient mobile networks to enable better user experience. It has been deployed commercially in over 30 networks around the world, and is estimated to achieve over 100 rollouts during 2018.
The judges said – “With this solution, the partnership has successfully addressed the small cell deployment issues around speed, ease and cost”
The Magic Box by Sprint and Airspan Networks is the world’s first all-wireless small cell. Magic Box requires no implementation, labor, or rental costs that are a hurdle for many traditional small cell deployments. The unit is simply placed near a window and plugged into a power outlet. Within minutes hard-to-reach indoor coverage holes are eliminated, and customer’s download and upload data speeds improve on average by more than 200 percent. The Magic Box simplifies network densification by using LTE UE Relay for wireless backhaul, and by connecting to macro sites at the cell edge it decongests overall network traffic.
