Lluís Gómez is the Commissioner responsible for Economic Promotion, Enterprise and Innovation at Barcelona City Council, of which, among other duties, requires him to lead foreign and domestic policies aiming at strengthening Barcelona city’s international positioning among major cities in the world. Mr. Gómez’s professional background includes responsibilities in both private and public sectors. He was the founder of Sternalia Inc., a scientific events planning company. Before becoming Commissioner, he was the International Director at Smart City World Expo Congress (SCWEC) and, in fact, before that he was responsible for the introduction of electric vehicle initiative at the City Council in the early years. Prior to that, he was the Manager of “Fabra Observatory of Astronomy” in Barcelona; as well as an instructor of Astronomy at Barcelona’s Science Museum of “La Caixa” Foundation.
