Director of the Competition, Regulatory Law and Privacy Units
Juan holds a degree in Law from the Complutense University of Madrid and a PDD from IESE. After five initial years of practicing law in a firm in Madrid, he joined the Telefónica Group in 1996, becoming part of the Legal Services of Telefónica Móviles at the time when telecom liberalization process began in Spain. From 2006 to 2016, he heads the Telecommunications Legal Department in Telefónica Spain; and in 2016 he joined the Corporate Legal Services of the Group, at Telefónica S.A., as Chief Privacy Officer and Director of the Competition Law, Privacy and Legal Regulatory Units.
Juan has a frequent activity in reading and lessons. He is a visiting professor in a yearly basis in Carlos III University, Rey Juan Carlos University and FIDE Foundation. In 2018 has lectured, among others, in the Spanish Senate, the European Commission Office in Madrid and the Spanish National Privacy Congress.
