James J. Nolan is Executive Vice President, Products at InterDigital. As head of the company’s product portfolio, Mr. Nolan oversees advancement of the company’s market ready technologies toward commercialization as well as manages the company’s existing product portfolio. Mr. Nolan is responsible for, leading Chordant – an InterDigital business focused on IoT Solutions, and Hillcrest Labs – a sensor fusion company. Mr. Nolan is also a founder and board member of Convida Wireless, a Sony InterDigital joint venture focused on research and development and standardization of IoT and 5G wireless solutions.
Since joining InterDigital in 1996, Mr. Nolan has held a variety of engineering and executive management positions, leading InterDigital Solutions (2014-2015) and InterDigital Labs (2013-14), Executive Vice President, Research and Development (2009-2012), and serving as the company’s senior engineering officer from 2006 through 2013. In those roles, Mr. Nolan led InterDigital’s research and development teams, overseeing the development of standards-based technology as well as next generation technology initiatives, including advanced wireless solutions, machine-to-machine – Internet of Things technologies, video and bandwidth management technologies for Wi-Fi cellular networks.
Mr. Nolan earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo, a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from NYU Tandon School of Engineering – Polytechnic Institute, and an Executive Master of Business Administration from Hofstra University.
