Dr. Iffat Zafar is the Co-Founder and Chief Operations Officer for Sehat Kahani, a tele-health company which works on improving basic health care in communities through a spectrum of services focused on primary health care consultation, health awareness and health counseling utilizing ICT enabled platforms. She is currently doing her Masters in Global E-Health from University of Edinburgh for which she has been awarded with the Commonwealth Scholarship. She has been selected for Good Fund Fellowship 2017-18 this year. She recently spoke at TEDx Ziauddin University in September 2018 about her work in E-Health and Women’s Empowerment.
Dr. Iffat also actively worked on and created partnership with British Asian Trust for conducting Mental Health Awareness in the Sehat Kahani Communities. Recently Dr. Iffat and Dr. Sara raised their 1st round of seed investment of $500,000 through a local investor Elahi Group, Amplify Challenge and GSMA Fund. Sehat Kahani is the first company from Pakistan to have been selected for GSMA funding. Dr. Iffat was selected as a Mentor for the GIST Tech-I Applicants 2017-18 and she is also a Mentor for Cherie Blair Foundation.
She is a 2016 Alumni of USAID TFP Program and also the MIT Sloan School of Management (for Entrepreneurship Development).She is also an Alumni at SPRING Accelerator Cohort 2 (2017) for Sehat Kahani.
Dr. Iffat Zafar has won notable awards which include Engro I am Change Awards 2016, KITE-OSLO Local Competition 2016, MIT Enterprise Forum Pakistan (2015), Seedstars Regional Event (2015), Winner of “The best in Healthcare” at GIST (Global Innovation through Science and Technology) Tech I Event held United Nations Head-Quarters Kenya Nairobi (2015) for her former role at doctHERs. She has been a finalist for a few competitions that include Echoing Green (2015), Sandoz Hack 2017. She has also been a part of a well-known accelerator in Pakistan; Invest2 Innovate previously.
Dr. Iffat is a dynamic speaker and has spoken at numerous National as well as International Forums. She recently spoke at the Iqra University on a Panel on Entrepreneurship, and a Panel with USAID SMEA on Women Entrepreneurs, the Hult Competition Opening Ceremony held at IBA University Karachi, she also spoke at the APPS UK Conference (September 2017) at the Royal Society of Medicine where she spoke about Sehat Kahani and the development of E-Health in Pakistan. She has spoken at the 54th Commission on Social Development at United Nations New York Head-Quarters at the APF & FESF Event on “Rethinking Social Development in Pakistan through Partnerships” in 2016. She also went across US doing road shows in Boston, DC, Virginia and Silicon Valley about her work in community innovations and healthcare. She also presented Innovations in Health Tech in Pakistan at the USAID Headquarters Washington DC (February 2016).
Dr. Iffat has been born and bred in Saudi Arabia where she completed her schooling and she did her MBBS from Ziauddin Medical University. Dr. Iffat enjoys Travel, Music and reading books such as “Lean In” by Sheryl Sandberg, “A Thousand Splendid Suns” and “The Zahir” Apart from work, her 2 daughters are the apple of her eyes and she loves spending time with them.
