Brett May is Chief Operating Officer of the Internet of Things service line at McKinsey. Based in Silicon Valley, Brett has 30 years of global tech & software experience across multiple business functions.
Previously, Brett was an executive at GE where he led venture capital, joint ventures, and acquisitions for GE Digital. Before that, Brett led business development for Cisco’s Emerging Technology Group and also led M&A and venture investing for Cisco’s $9B Services division. Brett has also been COO of a venture-backed software start-up in Silicon Valley, an engagement manager with McKinsey in Silicon Valley, and a custom software engineering leader in Accenture’s advanced technology group.
Brett has served on the boards of 6 venture-backed software start-ups as well as the world’s largest cyber-security venture capital fund, and a music school. He also is a part-time professional musician who has performed with several Grammy-winning artists and recording stars.
Brett holds an MBA from Northwestern, and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Mississippi State.
