GSMA Intelligence estimates that by 2020 mobile technologies could reduce carbon emissions in other sectors by about five times the mobile industry’s own footprint, the equivalent of taking one in three cars off the road. By raising awareness of both the environmental advantages and economic returns, the mobile sector can become an increasingly powerful tool in tackling the impacts of climate change.
Policymakers, operators and vendors each share a commitment in ensuring that existing and future 5G efforts are coordinated and energy efficiency prioritised. This session will examine the use of renewables, ensuring green energy is reliable, and that both investment and innovation are available to build clean tech for the future.
