GSMA is always working to improve our attendees’ experience utilising innovative technologies where possible. BREEZ is designed to make your experience at Mobile World Congress Barcelona 2019 (“MWC19”) even more immersive and personalized. If you choose to participate in BREEZ we will collect information from you online and when you first enter the MWC19 venue.
Below are answers to questions you may have about the information we collect and how we use it to deliver your experience. We value our attendees and are dedicated to treating the information you share with us with care and respect.
As we continue to enhance the MWC experience and develop new ways of interacting with you, we will update these FAQs.

BREEZ stands for Biometric Recognition Easy Entry Zone
Enrolment into the BREEZ programme will allow contactless entry for attendees, meaning that they will not need to show their ID or have their badge scanned in order to enter the event. BREEZE combines technology, comfort and security.
Attendees can opt in to BREEZ either through the pre-event registration system or via our enrolment teams based in registration and access areas. Participation of MWC attendees is entirely voluntary.
Attendees who wish to participate will need to upload a photo. A biometric profile will be generated from each photo which will be used to determine attendees’ identity in a quick and secure way when they use the BREEZ lanes.
Facial recognition cameras will only be used at venue entry points or a restricted area for the purposes of facilitating access.
Participation of MWC attendees is entirely voluntary and will only be available to those who have opted in to the programme.
Attendees who have not enrolled to BREEZ will use our other access lanes where they will need to show their passport or EU National ID every time they enter the venue and have their badge scanned.
If you have already collected your badge go to any of our BREEZ Access lanes at any access point at the venue to sign-up at MWC19; South Entrance, North Entrance, Metro L9, Hall 1 and VIP Entrance. Do not enrol via pre-registration as this will not complete the sign-up process.
If you haven’t yet collected your badge go back to your registration account and;
Note that your biometric profile used for the purpose of identification at MWC19 is securely destroyed post-event, but your consent to participate in BREEZ is kept for as long as you maintain your MWC account or until you opt-out of BREEZ.
Attendees can opt-out at any stage by accessing their registration account and deselecting the enrolment option, after which all traces of their biometric profile will be securely destroyed.
Attendees must access their registration account in order to opt-out. Opt-out cannot occur via email request. For more information about the opt-out process, please contact the Registration Contact Centre – details can be found in your registration confirmation email.
BREEZ lanes will be available at all perimeter access points as well as at the Ministerial Programme perimeter.
We are committed to protecting the security of your personal information. All biometric data will be stored using appropriate physical, technical and administrative safeguards, including encryption. All biometric data used for the purpose of access to MWC19 will be stored and retained in the EU.
Attendees’ biometric profiles used for the purposes of identification at MWC19 is securely destroyed post-event.
All attendees are required to have their printed badge on them at all times as badges are visually checked on arrival and also used for scanning attendees into sessions within the event. It is also a requirement in Spain to carry ID at all times, therefore attendees should retain their Passport or EU National Card on their person.
We are currently only deploying this solution at MWC Barcelona but based on success factors, and specific event needs, we will look to opportunities to use this across our other events.
