Xevi Xirgo is a journalist and Catalan teacher (University of Girona, 1996), a Teaching Training graduate from the University of Girona (1987), a graduate in Humanities (Open University of Catalonia, 2006) and holder of a Master’s degree in the Information and Knowledge Society (Open University of Catalonia, 2011). He was one of the founders of the municipal radio station Ràdio Cassà de la Selva (1985) where he was director (1986). He has worked as a journalist mainly for the newspaper?El Punt?where he began as a correspondent. He has been head of the Politics section, editor of the magazine?Presència?and editor of the Girona edition of?El Punt?(2002-2009). In 2009 he was appointed editor of the daily?Avui?and in 2011, when?El Punt?and?Avui?merged their titles, he was named editor of?El Punt Avui, a position he held until January 2022. From 2014 to 2019 he was editor of El Punt Avui TV. For seven years he was an associate lecturer at the University of Girona where he led two postgraduate courses in print journalism. In 2020, together with Carles Puigdemont he published?M’explico. De la investidura a l’exili?and?La lluita a l’exili, a two-volume political journal of the 130th?first minister of the Catalan Government.
