Mr. V. L. Kantha Rao is a senior bureaucrat with the Ministry of Communications, Government of India. Mr Rao has over three decades of experience across various disciplines in Government and has been instrumental in successful execution of initiatives under Digital Communication Policy, 6G Program, Spectrum identification, Development of Technology & Funding, Regulatory recommendations, Innovation engagement, International Relations and universal connectivity.
He is presently responsible for administering the multi-billion Universal Services Obligation (USO) fund that works towards ensuring ubiquitous connectivity in rural, remote and underserved areas of the country. Several schemes and projects are also underway for ensuring universal 4G mobile and internet connections in uncovered villages across India and to expedite adoption of 5G usecases.
Mr. Rao is a Bachelor of Technology and Master’s in Business Administration and belongs to the Indian Administrative Service of Government of India.
