Dr. Tim O'Shea is the CTO of DeepSig, a venture backed startup in Arlington, VA focused on building production ML driven wireless software for wireless communications systems, with a focus on 5G vRAN, OpenRAN and 6G RAN candidates. He has also served as a Research Professor at Virginia Tech and at USG research labs focused on applied research and rapid prototyping in software and cognitive radio where he helped lead the GNU Radio project. Tim is the Co-Chair of the IEEE Emerging Tech Area on ML for Communications and is an Editor for IEEE TWC and TCCN. He has Chaired the GNU Radio Conf Tech Proceedings 2016-2019, MLC Workshops at IEEE Globecom and ICC, and is the Co-author of over 100 patents and papers focusing on the intersection of wireless communications and ML. Previously he worked with Hawkeye 360, Federated Wireless, and Cisco Systems, has served as a technical advisory board member for programs at NSF, DARPA, and EU HORIZON 2020 and is an active IEEE Senior Member.
