Speaker Bio

Pol Merino, the Managing Director of HONEXT®, holds a BSc in Biotechnology and has extensive experience in business development in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries.

HONEXT® is a Barcelona-based company that developed a carbon-negative and flame-resistant fibreboard with excellent properties made from cellulosic waste from the paper industry.

Through Pol Merino's international experience and leadership, HONEXT® was industrialized in 2015, turning a research project at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya into a competitive manufacturer of circular construction materials.

To find synergies with local industries, Pol Merino is implementing a circular economy action plan for HONEXT's international expansion. The ultimate goal of HONEXT® is to drive the transition from linear to circular construction.
