Speaker Bio
Paula Subías-Beltrán currently works as an advanced researcher and data scientist at Eurecat, where she contributes to research projects that entail signal processing to characterize cardiotoxicity in vivo and in vitro cardiac data, to the creation of recommendation systems to foster well-being in the elderly, to image processing for cancer detection. Paula is a Ph.D. candidate in the Bioethics and Law Observatory from the University of Barcelona studying governance frameworks for AI and working towards the operationalization of ethical principles such as respect for human autonomy. Besides, she holds a master's in computational science from the University of Amsterdam and a Mathematics degree from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. She received recognition from the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos for a project she led named "Encrypted data transfer preserving privacy in the federation of social entities" and was recently awarded a fellowship for Data Science for Social Good at CMU.
