Speaker Bio

Dr. Muriel Desaeger is currently acting as Technical Head of Technical Planning at the R&D center of Toyota Motor Europe. She is leading transversal teams tackling the test & incubation of new technologies.

Muriel is focused on delivering European originated solutions using EU knowhow, academic networks & the anticipation of technical and societal trends. Her teams are working in the areas of automotive big data & AI, connected cars, mobility, and carbon neutral & societal changes. Recently, she led several initiatives in the field of real-time big data, future 5G networks and car personalization.

Muriel has 27 years experience with Toyota. Before acting in her current position, she was General Manager of New Business Strategy, Advanced Technology Divisions and Material Engineering Division. She graduated as Material Science Engineer from the University of Louvain-la-Neuve and got her PhD in the field of Composite Materials at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium).

Toyota is a founding member of the Automotive Edge Computing Consoritum (AECC).
