Lara obtained her PhD from EMBL-EBI and the University of Cambridge in 2019, where she worked on AI in statistical genomics. As an independent Research Fellow in New Zealand, Lara then applied genomics and machine learning in the context of nature conservation. As a Principal Investigator at Helmholtz AI, Helmholtz Pioneer Campus and the Technical University of Munich, Lara now integrates genomic, statistical and computational approaches to drive the development of accurate and efficient data-driven approaches for the conservation of biodiversity and a better understanding of One Health.
