With over 20 years’ experience in Telecommunications Networks, Julia Velasco has been a fundamental part of the team that transformed Vodafone’s Network, from 2G Voice services up to the most recent introduction of 5G as well as the consolidation of Fixed and Mobile networks to offer a high-quality convergent service. Throughout her career in Vodafone she has held various roles in the Networks and Technology teams in Spain, UK and Group.
As Network Director for Spain, she currently oversees the Network team, responsible for the design, construction, operation and optimisation of the mobile and fixed connectivity service for our clients, as well as the services related to that connectivity. Some highlights of her achievements are the launch of 5G in Spain, innovative solutions for MPNs, security solutions and contributing towards guaranteeing the service during the Covid-19 crisis.
Additionally, she leads the Core and Services organisation, within Group Network Strategy Engineering. This team is an essential enabler for the major transformations in the network in the coming years, such as 5G SA Core transformation, voice services transformation (VoLTE, IP native, Voice over 5G, VoLTE roaming…), IMS services evolution, NaaP, IoT and API exposure services.
