John Saw, Ph.D., FCAE, is the executive vice president of advanced and emerging technologies at T-Mobile, where he and his team of brilliant technologists are constantly looking for new and innovative ways to disrupt wireless and bring a little joy to customers's lives.

John was previously the chief technology officer at Sprint, where he transformed its network performance and oversaw the company’s 5G rollout. John was also the chief technology officer at Clearwire before the company was acquired by Sprint in 2013. Long recognized as a pioneer in the 2.5 GHz band, he’s led the development of the 2.5 GHz band into one of the most valuable mid-band spectrums in the U.S. and one of the largest ecosystems in the world.

John has also held senior leadership roles developing and deploying wireless technologies at AT&T Wireless, Bell Northern Research, Netro Corp., and Nortel.

John earned a doctorate, master's, and bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from McMaster University, Canada, and has six U.S. patents in wireless technologies. In 2017, the FCC chairman appointed him to the Broadband Deployment Advisory Committee. He is an elected Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and he serves on the board of directors for Spectrum Effect, a pioneer in RF spectrum analytics. John also serves on the advisory boards of the 5G Open Innovation Lab, the Global TDD Initiative (GTI), the Technology Alliance and the University of Washington, College of Engineering's Visiting Committee.
