Born in Barcelona on June 29, 1962, Joan Laporta is the first democratically elected president in the history of FC Barcelona to lead the Club in two separate, non-consecutive terms.


A lawyer by profession, he is a founding partner and holder of the Laporta & Arbós Advocats Associats law firm; a member of the Il·lustre Col·legi d'Advocats de Barcelona, and holds various positions, including being a member of the Patronat de la Johan Cruyff Welfare Foundation.


In his first term as president of FC Barcelona (2003-2010), the football team achieved significant success, including winning a FIFA Club World Cup, two Champions League titles, a European Super Cup, four Spanish League Championship, a Copa del Rey, three Spanish Super Cup, and three Catalan Cup trophies. Laporta's presidency was not only successful in sports but also economically and socially.


On 7th March 2021, Laporta, with the electoral slogan "Estimem el Barça" (We love Barça), once again won the presidential elections with the majority support of the members. The challenges of the new term include restoring the club's economy, developing the Espai Barça project, strengthening the institutional presence of the entity as a leading sports club worldwide, and preserving the La Masia youth academy model as an identity asset for Barça's playing style.
