Gustav Grundin leads McKinsey’s client service in the TMT sector in Japan. His work covers advising operators as well as equipment manufacturers, locally, as well as around the globe, across all areas of strategy, operations, and new business building.
Gustav draws on decades of experience within the Telecom industry, where he has served or worked for more than 20 companies in as many countries. At McKinsey, he has, apart from Tokyo, also been based in the Stockholm and Singapore offices. In addition to McKinsey, he has worked in the industry, where he has held strategy roles at Vodafone Group, as well as multiple positions at O2 in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
His main professional passion lies within the telecom network area, centering around topics such as: 5G deployment, network architectural choices (e.g., Open RAN, sharing), public safety solutions, alternative funding models (e.g., structural separation) and the effects of telecom infrastructure on economic growth and social well-being.
He holds a Master of Science (M. Sc.) from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.
