Speaker Bio

Growing up first in Cairo and then London, Geilan is a UCL and Bocconi alumna who joined Morgan Stanley’s capital markets division 20 years ago where her financial knowledge and polyglot abilities afforded her a successful career managing pan-European client relations with private banks, asset managers, family offices, and pension funds.

After significant time spent in Switzerland, she went on to advise global FinTech founders, CEOs and management teams on their strategy, business development, sales and marketing.

Wanting to ultimately combine her finance career with a purpose-driven desire to make a real impact in our world, Geilan co-founded Plenitude in 2018, an ESG-focused digital wealth and pensions manager, to help individuals align their investments with their values. She led Plenitude’s acceptance into the FCA’s Green FinTech Challenge and more recently, the company’s graduation from the distinguished Zurich-based F10 FinTech Accelerator.

Recently included in the prestigious, global Innovate Finance Women in FinTech Powerlist 2020, in recognition of her career excellence and achievements as a Senior Leader and sustainable fintech expert, in 2020 Geilan was also shortlisted for the Women in Finance & Business FinTech Champion of the Year Award for her standout contribution to sustainable finance, FinTech and active promotion of Diversity and Inclusion.

As a recognised sustainable finance and fintech thought-leader and strategist, Geilan is a regular contributor to green finance debates, consultations and has authored articles too. She is regularly sought to share her knowledge and guidance on matters regarding sustainability, ESG investing and startup strategy, globally.

Armed with her entrepreneurial experience, she is now Chair of the P27 Green FinTech Forum, whose mission is to support FinTech businesses transform the global economy into a more sustainable one, by fostering collaboration with the international stakeholder community.

Geilan also sits on the Institute of Directors’ National Sustainability TaskForce, helping businesses integrate sustainability into their DNA.

In addition to being the UK representative of the W Startup Community, a global EU-supported initiative championing diversity & inclusion in tech, she is the Co-Editor of a pending book on Green Finance and Fintech.

Fluent in English, Arabic, French and Italian, when taking time away from her professional pursuits, she is a keen walker, jogger and food-lover who enjoys photography and travel too.
