Speaker Bio
Andrew Vennekotter leads a team of security professionals in Europe who engage government authorities and customers in conversations about cloud security and technological innovation at AWS. He combines 16 years of public sector experience in technology policy, cybersecurity, counterterrorism, and security policy with six years of experience in software engineering and information security. As a Foreign Service Officer at the U.S. State Department, he served in Washington, DC, as well as in U.S. Embassies in Greece, Afghanistan, Germany, and Ghana, providing assistance and advice to the United States’ international partners and representing the country to the world. As an International Program Specialist at NASA, he worked on a return-to-flight strategy after the Columbia disaster and helped negotiate space flight and research agreements with the Canadian Space Agency, the European Space Agency, ROSKOSMOS, and JAXA. Most recently, he worked as the CISO at Market Logic Software in Berlin, Germany, which provides marketing insights software to some of the biggest companies in the world. He has an MA in International Affairs (Technology Policy) from GWU, an ALM in Software Engineering from Harvard University Extension School, and a BA in Comparative Literature from UC Berkeley.
